PREPARING FOR A NO DEAL BREXIT

As part our commitment to keeping you informed about the Government’s No Deal preparations, we are sending you this latest update. Leaving the EU with a deal remains the Government’s top priority, but the Government is continuing with no deal preparations to ensure that we are prepared for every eventuality.

The Product Safety and Metrology Legislation

This legislation was passed in Parliament on 20 March and will come into force if the UK leaves the EU in a no deal scenario.  In advance of this, we are issuing guidance which outlines the changes introduced by this legislation. This document is called ‘What’s Changed?’ and has been published on gov.uk/government/publications/uk-product-safety-and-metrology-guidance-in-a-no-deal-scenario

New Customs Tariffs

New Customs duty tariff rates and quotas have also been published, that would apply to imports in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a deal. In view of the publication of these measures at short notice and the UK’s possible departure from the EU, We urge you to review these rates and how they will affect your business below.
